Opening a restaurant once seemed like an impossible dream for Lawrence Scott, Executive Chef and Proprietor of Lawrence Scott Restaurant. Paralyzed from the waist down in a motorcycle accident, Lawrence has overcome his physical limitations and launched his own restaurant, a seasonal New American Bistro, located at 73rd St. & 1st Ave. in New York.

Despite his handicap, Lawrence oversees a kitchen staff of 5 and personally attends to each dish. He has created a diverse menu that reflects a myriad of culinary and cultural influences. Lawrence Scott is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, and has studied under world renowned chef Alain Ducasse at the Restaurant Louis XV at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, and Christian Constant at the Hotel de Crillon in Paris.

"I've always felt that an American Bistro should recognize the flavors and spices other cultures have contributed to our palate," says Lawrence Scott. "At my restaurant, I've incorporated Asian, Latin, French and traditional American influences in many of my recipes."

In addition to the diverse menu, Lawrence Scott Restaurant features an extensive wine cellar featuring over 120 carefully selected vintages. The restaurant seats 54 people in the dining room, 13 at the bar and is open for dinner Monday through Saturday from 5:30pm to 11:30pm.
